Your orders, your customers, your prices and your staff records live in one file on your own counter PC. We hold no copy. There is no screen at our office that can look up your restaurant, because there is nowhere for it to read from.
Every vendor says they respect your privacy. Below is the part nobody shows you: exactly what our software sends us, and how we stop ourselves from sending more.
One address, for one purpose: checking that your licence is valid. It is the only server of ours the software knows how to reach.
The only host

The entire payload
checkoutToken · machineFingerprint · appVersion · osInfo · licenseKey · product
machineFingerprint is a SHA-256 hash, so even your PC's name does not reach us in a form we could read. Nothing else is sent. There is no second request, and no field carrying anything about your restaurant.
Not encrypted and held by us. Not anonymised and aggregated. Simply never transmitted.
Good intentions drift as software grows, so the rules are enforced by the build rather than by memory:
You do not have to trust a claim you cannot test. This one you can:
We will do exactly this in your restaurant, on your machine, during the demo. Ask us to unplug it.
SmartPOS can talk to other services when you switch them on. These are your decisions, to destinations you pick — not ours, and none of them route through us. Every one is off until you turn it on, and each can be left off for good.
Aggregator orders come in through the Dyno service on your PC. Needed only for online orders; billing works without it.
You type the address. Order events go wherever you point them, and nowhere by default.
Sent to your guest from your own restaurant number when you choose to send one.
To a folder on your disk, or one a sync client of your choosing uploads on its own.
Fetched from GitHub Releases when you allow it. Can be turned off in Settings.
A one-time pull from your own cloud tenant, started by you, if you are moving across.
The same restaurant, run on SmartPOS and on a typical cloud POS.
| SmartPOS | Typical cloud POS | |
|---|---|---|
| Your daily sales figures | On your PC only | Held on the vendor’s servers |
| Your customer phone numbers | On your PC only | Held on the vendor’s servers |
| Your menu and your margins | On your PC only | Held on the vendor’s servers |
| Your staff records and salaries | On your PC only | Held on the vendor’s servers |
| Vendor can read your data | No — nowhere to read it from | Yes, technically |
| Vendor can be compelled to produce it | No — nothing to produce | Yes |
| Subscription lapses | Your data stays on your disk | Access may stop |
| Vendor shuts down | Your counter keeps billing | Your POS stops |
Our own RestoPOS cloud is a cloud POS, and the right column describes it too. Both products are honest work; they answer different questions. If you want your outlet on your phone from anywhere, the cloud is the better tool. If you want nobody but you holding the data, this is.
We would rather tell you this than have you find it. SmartPOS checks your licence with us: once when you activate, and quietly again whenever the PC happens to be online. That check carries the hashed fingerprint above and nothing else.
A counter that stays disconnected for more than a week will ask you to reconnect it briefly before it carries on billing. That is the honest limit of "works without the internet", and we would rather print it here than let you discover it on a Friday night.
No. There is nowhere for us to see them from. Your orders, bills and reports are in a database file on your own counter PC and are never transmitted to us. We have no copy, and no admin screen that could look one up.
One request, to our licence server, carrying a hashed machine fingerprint, the app version and the operating system name. That is the whole payload. No restaurant data of any kind travels with it.
We could not produce what we do not hold. A request for your restaurant records would have to go to you, because your machine is the only place they exist.
No. On a shared cloud platform your data and a rival restaurant's sit in one system. With SmartPOS there is no shared system to sit in.
Nothing. The software keeps running on your PC and your data stays where it already is. With a cloud POS, the vendor going away takes your billing and your history with it.
The question matters less here than it sounds. Encryption protects data in transit and at rest on someone else's server. Your restaurant data does neither: it stays on your disk, under Windows' own file permissions, and never crosses a network to us.
Activating your licence, and the optional extras you switch on yourself — Swiggy and Zomato orders, app updates, webhooks, and a one-time import if you are moving off RestoPOS cloud. Billing itself never does.
